We Passed the First Inspection, Friday, July 12th

HELLO Everyone:
We have had a long lag time (3 weeks). The end of June had our contractors on vacation. On July first we had our initial building inspection. We did not do well. We got a citation for a number of infractions including missing items on scope of work and various code clarifications. Left Darrell and Stacy figure out how to pass a re-inspection.

Above we have stacked all insulation while we prepare to resolve all construction issues.

Pictured right, Darrel is laying out the platform for our new three sided gas fireplace. The blue tape show where the fireplace foot print is positioned. This platform will be covered in a stone veneer that will match the house stone trim and column cladding.

Above, you can see the platform taking shape. Now the new gas fire place is perched upon the platform. The end panel will be replaced with a third glass window giving all surrounding rooms, 270 degrees of warming. We picked the stone veneer only to find it was not available. I met with the stone mason and selected another stone product and order a stone slab to seat the fireplace upon.

Above is another part of passing the inspection, this entry wall needs to have a sheer wall installed. This constitutes screwing plywood to the studs from the floor to the roof. We will need to demo the entry ceiling to do the install. Also we will replace the old style door bell with new unit.

Friday, July 12th was re-inspection day. Tamika and Sandy greeted the inspector on his way to meet with Darrel and review all compliance issues and sign-off on building permit.

We passed with flying colors and can now start putting the house back in order.  First order of business re-install the insulation then sheetrock all exposed walls and ceilings.

Next Blog will discuss schedule and estimated completion date.
