Day 82, Flooring TGIF, lots of building action everywhere

Happy Friday, I started my day with vacuuming all the construction dust I have been tracking into my office. I was on a road trip from Monday evening to Thursday evening. Today was not working at my auditing instead focusing on the remodel project.

When Darrell arrived we had a lot of decisions to discuss. Sandy joined us as we went through the list of items to be decided. We approved the entertainment center unit to be built by John's Formica who did all our project cabinet work.

Saturday is my last AX of the year. So I needed to catch up everyone on the blog's 42 and 43. Now I am going to record today's action.

ABOVE, Dan and Scott continue to install oak planks in the Family Room. Darrell has installed the new fireplace mantle. We basely used the original mantle and change the crown molding, eased the edges and painted it to match the rest of the room's molding finishes.

RIGHT, Scott carefully assembles his planks and attaches them together in a seamless collection of difference lengths forming our new hardwood floors

BELOW, Dan and Scott rest as they enjoy their lunch and free from the tap-tap-tap of the staplers. They look like they are picnicking, well it is FGIF.

RIGHT, is the job site just before the evening clean-up.

BELOW, check up the new floor in the Family Room. I love how the floor flows around the hearth. Also, see the new mantle piece on the right of the overall floor photo.

RIGHT, Victor puts an undercoat on the new mantle. Note the new flat screen wrapped in plastic to protect it from all the wood dust the flooring install will create.

BELOW, Victor undercoats all the base boards before they are installed in the various rooms after the new floors are installed.

RIGHT, Todd lays the new tile in the Hall Bathroom. The new electrical heating system is now covered and ready to heat the floor.

Note the blue tape on the resin shower stall in the background. We are installing two grab bars in the standard oil rub bronze. Also the last shampoo/soap dish will not be glued till after the shower controls are hooked up to see where the flex hose drapes.

RIGHT, Craig reviews the grout color as Sandy and I pick out final choices for the tile floors in the Utility Room and Hall Bathroom.

I am seen enjoying one of those great wraps Sandy brings me from McDonald's, go figure.

After much discussion we decided on White Dove in the bathroom and Camel in the Utility Room.

BELOW, the hole needed for the dryer vent hose is created to vent to the outside.

Darrell prepares the washer hoses for the remote use of the washer over the weekend. This gives Sandy the opportunity to do any laundry without impacting the flooring curing process.

Also, Darrell needs the room clear to do all the finish work in the Utility Room.

This room maybe the first one finished and ready to move in the two refrigerators located in the Porch and in the Breezeway.

Here our driveway is plugged to capacity with trucks big and small.

One of the TGIF rituals is the contractor's downloading of last week's events. They share all things before they take off to enjoy their weekends.

Other FGIF  events include the daily snuggles of the our Maine Coon Cats, Will and Grace.

Also pictured is our new fireplace, next steps include making a hole in the roof for the vent pipe. Then the fireplace log set can be installed and heating element activated for the cold snap.

RIGHT, This is a Finish Violation, Satin Nickel hinges, clearly not the standard oil rub bronze hinges used on all the other door... Ops!

NEXT:
Todd cleans up and will return Saturday to install the selected grouts.

Also, Monday, the oak floor installers will switch to the Entry, Kitchen-Dining floor and begin to weave the old planks with the new planks.
