Day 83, Monday Flooring Install and Painting molding, wainscot and base

Saturday, Todd the Tile Guy came by and did added the grout between the tiles in the Utility and Hall Bathroom.

I was off doing an Autocross with my Porsche buddies and Sandy was hanging with the critters.

When I came back I was very pleased with our grout selections. They look great.

ABOVE, Darrell and Stacy discuss how to support the painters and floor installers. He thought the whole floor install will take all week with the staining happening next week. Also, Bubba will start bringing over the granite counter tops Monday.

RIGHT, Darrell continues to add screws to the sub floor insuring no future squeaky noises when we walk on the new floors

LEFT, This is an example of the bottom trim piece where the cabinet bottom toe kick is located.

BELOW, is an example of the baseboard adding the finishing touch to the Utility room.

LEFT, Stacy adjusts the height of the hall coat closet pocket door to accommodate the new oak floor. He has to figure out how the oak threshold will fit with the closet's cedar planks.

No... he is not praying for a solution.

Victor and helper were doing a variety of painting tasks from preping and sanding areas to receive their first under coat to applying the finished coat of antique white.

There are lots of places needing Victor's attention.

My favorite is the wainscot paint job in the Living Room (antique).

ABOVE, RIGHT, In this next series of photos; you see how Dan removes old planks from the existing floor. He drill a small hole in the planks to be removed. He inserts the steel pipe in the hole and strikes the pipe with is hammer driving the plank out of it former home.

BELOW, Dan then removes old stables and slide a new plank into the opening. You can see how well the old and new planks mesh together.

ABOVE, RIGHT, Dan prepare the hallway threshold for the butting-up of the new oak planks.

BELOW, He take a hand held circular saw to provide clearance under the door molding for the new flooring

Scott finishes up last of the floor install by the down stair steps.
BELOW, is the finished look of the new floor next to the French doors going into the back porch.

Sandy and I had an assignment to pick out the downstairs step carpet. We went for to the contractor finishes showroom, ProSource and review lots of carpet samples.

BELOW, We select the carpet that best matched the wall and trim colors and the floor and door stains.
NEXT: more of the same as today... Darrell and Stacy are off tomorrow.
